Marcia C. Akers

June 4, 1953 — November 30, 2013

Marcia C. Akers (June 4, 1953 - November 30, 2013) On November 30, 2013, Marcia Akers left us for her big farm in the sky. She is riding her horse Big Easy, having lunch with her Mom and Dad, and capping the day off with a Lemon Drop Martini (or two) with her good friend Dorna McDonald May. Marcia C. Akers was born in Nashville, Tennessee, on June 4, 1953. She was the daughter of the late Robert and Rose Marilyn Wilson, of Ashland City, Tennessee. Marcia is survived by her daughter Sarah Michelle Akers, her son Andrew Miller Akers, Jr. and her husband of 31 years, Andrew M. Akers, Sr. She is also survived by her siblings, Donna Wilson, Randall Wilson, Carol King (Jerry), her niece Michelle Main (Michael) and her mother and father-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. James Clark Akers, III. She was a truly loving wife and mother. Marcia attended Lambuth College, the University of Hawaii and graduated from MTSU with a degree in Geriatric Social Work. An accomplished social worker, she helped establish the Guardianship Program for the Middle Tennessee Council on Aging. She was an avid horseback rider and a founding member of the Equestrian Martini Club. Her riding adventures took her from the Oregon Trail to East Fork on the Cumberland Plateau and even as close by as her farm in Ashland City, Tennessee. Marcia was also fond of her drives with her husband and the Nashville British Car Club. Visitation with family will be at the Boyd Funeral Home in Ashland City on Thursday December 5th from 10:00am - 1:00pm. The Funeral Service for Marcia will follow at 1:00pm. Burial will follow at the Sycamore Church of Christ Cemetery in Pleasant View. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Vanderbilt Ingram Cancer Center earmarked for Melanoma Research. When life gives us lemons, Marcia would want us to include these ingredients: 1 1/2 oz vodka 1/2 oz triple sec 1 tsp superfine sugar 3/4 oz freshly squeezed lemon juice
