Phoebe (Harris) Spann -82

May 9, 1932 — March 25, 2015

Our beloved mother, Phoebe Jane Harris Spann, 82 of Ashland City, TN passed away at sunset March 25, 2015. She was preceded in death by her deeply cherished husband of 58 years (our Daddy) William L. (Budgie) Spann, parents Leonard Harris and Mary Ella Wall Harris and brother Robert L. Harris. Our mother was also blessed to have an extended step family. Her mother Mary Ella, died when she was 8 and her father married Nell Morris McMillon Harris (deceased). She is also preceded in death by stepbrothers and sisters, Andrew Bee McMillon, Jr., Dr. Joseph Baxter McMillon, Audrey Louise Sullivan Tazelaar and Margaret Ann McMillon. She is survived by her children, Leonard L. Spann, Holly Spann and Robin McLaughlin (Shane), grandchildren Jason Spann, Jacob Spann and Holly's birth child, great-grandchildren, Colton Spann and Holly's birth grandchild, along with a special non-biological family member, Bob Derryberry (Sandra). Granny Jane also loved Big-Holly's God Children, Rob, Amelia, Little Holly and William. Our mother was deeply dedicated to her family and her faith; she also loved her hometown. She appreciated her special "phone-friends" as she called them. They know who they are and she wanted us to extend a special acknowledgement and convey her thankfulness and profound love for you. We were very blessed to have such a generously devoted and devout mother. We fulfilled our mother's wishes to be immediately buried in private at sunrise at the Lockwall Cemetery in Chapmansboro, TN March 26th. Lee Spann delivered the most inspiring and moving eulogy as the birds chirped and sang so melodiously, we thought they had been summoned by the heavens just for this occasion. You realize just how special your small hometown is, when you can make a last minute call for a "Blue Lights" escort to the cemetery at 6:30 a.m., and they oblige. Special thanks to the Ashland City Police Department and the Cheatham County Sheriff's Department for putting the heart in what it means to be the greatest community in Tennessee. You are the best and we can't thank you enough. Arrangements made possible and provided by Boyd Funeral Home, Alan Desmond Director, Ashland City Tn. www.boydfh.com 615-792-4677.
